Metal Gear Solid-Portable Ops
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops redefines the stealth action genre for handheld gaming systems with an original storyline that follows from the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and boasts ground-breaking online play that lets gamers recruit comrades to form a unique fighting force.
The single-player campaign of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops follows the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, as Naked Snake establishes FOXHOUND in an attempt to hunt down the treacherous FOX unit, which has started a bloody revolt in South America. Set in 1970, the game will be the missing link in the ongoing Metal Gear saga, as players will learn more about returning characters such as Para-Medic, Major Zero and Sigint and also witness Naked Snakes greatest tragedy – a loss that sets into motion the events of later games in the Metal Gear Solid timeline.

Despite many gamers strongly voicing their disappointment that the PSP Metal Gear game was a turn-based strategy game with cards, Metal Gear Acid did just fine on the sales charts. Director Shinta Nojiri was awfully cagey about details for the next game. The first MGA had a totally bizarre story that outdid MGS2 in terms of weird twists coming at you, and when asked to talk a bit about the story for MGA2, Nojiri would only comment that Snake is the hero again (note that he didnt say Solid Snake). Additionally, there will be a new heroine (which then begs the question, what happened to Teliko from MGA?).
What Nojiri was willing to talk about was the new cel-shaded look for MGA2. Funnily enough, this change to the graphic style seems to be part of an overall mandate, as Nojiri has commented that it came about because of Kojimas desire for all three games from Kojima Productions to change things up. Kojima himself has commented that the PSP is a fashion item and that MGA preserved too much of the cold, sterile look of previous Metal Gear games. Hence, the team redid MGA2 with brightly colored cel-shaded art to make it resemble a typical Japanese manga and to follow the PSPs fashion item design sensibilities.
